Attorney Emmanuel Makris

Relentless Defense Against Government Overreach

Since 2014, Emmanuel Makris has built his legal practice on a single, uncompromising principle: the government must be held strictly accountable for every charge it brings and every right it violates. He does not rely on a high-volume, plea-focused business model. He is a dedicated, hands-on Ohio trial attorney who prepares every single case as if it is going before a judge and jury from day one.

A Trial-First Philosophy

When your freedom and future are on the line, the worst thing a lawyer can do is assume a settlement is inevitable. Attorney Makris operates with a trial-first mentality. He proactively dismantles the prosecution’s case by thoroughly evaluating the State’s evidence, identifying critical inconsistencies in police reports, and exposing procedural errors.

  • Scrutinizing the State's Evidence: Relentlessly challenging illegal traffic stops, unlawful searches, flawed breathalyzer calibrations, and unconstitutional interrogations.

  • Direct Courtroom Advocacy: You will never be passed off to a junior associate or paralegal. When you hire Attorney Makris, you work directly with him at every stage of your defense.

  • Proactive Strategy: Forcing prosecutors to prove every element of their case, rather than waiting to see what they offer.

Core Practice Focus

Attorney Makris focuses his practice exclusively on high-stakes litigation where individuals are pitted against the massive resources of the state:

  • Ohio Criminal Defense: Aggressive, strategic representation for clients facing OVI/DUI offenses, serious misdemeanors, and complex felony indictments across Ohio's municipal and common pleas courts.

  • Constitutional Civil Rights Litigation: When law enforcement or government agencies overstep their authority, Attorney Makris fights back. He litigates civil rights violations—including false arrests, excessive force, and unlawful search and seizure—seeking to hold the government civilly liable for its overreach.

Your First Line of Defense

A criminal charge or a violation of your civil rights is a direct threat to your livelihood, your reputation, and your freedom. Do not navigate the Ohio justice system unrepresented, and do not accept a prosecutor’s narrative as the final word.
